Unable to login to network drives via VPN - It giving error "username and password is incorrect (But I am sure it is correct)

My users can connect VPN but the only thing they are unable to access shared drive when VPN connected.

When trying to open mapped network drive from MyComputer it giving error message "the username or password is incorrect (but I am sure it is correct only). Even if I try remapping and provide the same active directory username and password. But if I try remapping and provide active directory administrator username and password, it works (I can access shared drive when VPN connected).

What might be causing this trouble? Can anybody help me on this regard? I am in a very trouble as most of my users are remote users.

Hi,

Are you able to access the network drive\folder(files) using the active directory user account directly.

Since you mentioned that no issue when you tried remapping and using tehe administrator username and password, so I suspect that it might be related to the permissions, please make sure that both standard user and admins has permissions to access the network drive.

You can manually add the credentials in credential manager to check the result (control panel\All control panel items\Credential Manager)

Sounds like share or NTFS permissions. I would start there...

Hi,

I can able to access network drive in LAN with AD user account. But, I cannot access network only when it comes to VPN. VPN is successfully connected and I can ping my domain server, etc.

And after VPN connected, I tried remapping network drive with AD user account it is failed with showing "username and password not correct" (but I am sure that I am providing correct username password). But, when I tried remapping with AD Administrator user account it is success (I can access shared drive through VPN).

What might be the problem?

Hi,

If so, what would you think to resolve this issue?

I would like to remembering you that I can access network drive in LAN without any problem.

Hi

Have you checked the credential manager? Maybe something incorrect saved there which causes this issue. Control Panel\Credential Manager.
